Why this exists
Most people have no idea how much a website learns the instant a page loads. Your IP address, your browser and version, your operating system, your screen size, your timezone, your language, even your graphics hardware are all handed over automatically, with no prompt. A handful of those facts, combined, can single out your browser without a single cookie.
ReadMyBrowser lays all of it out plainly, in one calm dashboard, and explains each item in language a non-specialist can follow. The goal is not to alarm you but to make the invisible visible. Once you can see a signal, you can decide whether to change it, mask it, or leave it be.
How it works
Everything runs in your browser. The detection uses standard web APIs that any site could use, so what you see here is genuinely what any site could learn. The only network calls are a first-party IP echo (the kind every "what is my IP" tool needs) and, only if you explicitly allow location, a reverse-geocoding lookup relayed to the public OpenStreetMap Nominatim service to turn coordinates into a zip code or address. We never log or store your coordinates.
There are no accounts and nothing you type is stored, because nothing needs to be: the detection itself happens entirely in your browser. That client-side design is a deliberate choice for a tool about privacy. Read the full privacy policy for the specifics, including how any ads or analytics work.

Accuracy and honesty
Where a value is an estimate (IP-based location, the fingerprint entropy figure), we say so clearly rather than dressing a guess up as a fact. Browsers also deliberately blur some values now, and we explain where that happens. If you spot something wrong or out of date, please get in touch.
